Notes & Combos

I’ve always really liked Centur-Ion ever since it was added to Master Duel, but after the recent support, it’s probably become my favorite deck. And this version is so far my preferred one. I tried the Fiendsmith version for a while, and it’s really cool how easy it is to go into Centur-Ion combos from Fiendsmith. However, there are a few reasons I don’t like it as much as the all-in Bystial version I’m playing here:

1. Less versatile Extra Deck (you need at least 6 slots to run Fiendsmith properly)

2. Lower handtrap ratio

3. Less room for Bystials, which are really strong in the current meta

4. And personally, I already play Fiendsmith in other decks and enjoy getting to play Centur-Ion immediately instead of having to do the Fiendsmith combo first

I'm still not sure if there's a popular opinion on whether Centur-Ion is better with or without Fiendsmith, but I love the more standard version you can see here, and I’ll probably be sticking pretty close to it.

As for changes I'm considering for this version:

• I never once summoned Snake-Eyes Doomed Dragon. I like having it as an option, but I never really found a moment where it made sense to go into it.

• I’m thinking about swapping Doomed Dragon for Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres, since Seal works really well to bridge the Bystial part of the deck with the Centur-Ion engine.

• If I do make that change, I’ll also replace Artemis with Spirit With Eyes of Blue, since they serve the same role, but Spirit can turn a Primera or Effect Veiler into a Dragon for Seal.

• I like only running 2 Imperm, since I felt like I was drawing into it too much off Atrii on the opponent's turn, where any of the other hand traps would have been better.

• I also noticed a lot of lists run 2 Blazars, so I crafted a second one a few weeks ago. You don’t need to run two, but since it’s arguably the strongest monster in the deck, having a backup feels really good.
