I spent Diamond with a similar list to the above link but the format did not change. The Master climb after Dominus Impulse & Purge but before Primite dropped was difficult. Tenpai got much stronger with Purge and Reboot to counteract opposing Dominus cards that I felt like they had regular answers to offset me going 1st. I deranked a few times due to Tenpai. I'm more confident that Mathmech no longer has a favorable matchup vs that deck.

Things changed when Primite was introduced. Blue Eyes was the most represented deck while Tenpai representation lowered. It was much easier to build for Blue Eyes even tho the matchup was not as straightforward. Blue Eyes is strong going first and the deck has a powerful grind game between Drillbeam reset, Beryl readd, Tyrant field wipe and trap reset, etc. It's not worth giving them another turn, but they had ways to ensure they survived to T3 between searching Veiler, Majesty pop, Heavenly Seals, Dominus Purge, Ash Blossom.

  • I think Gamma is powerful since you deny the Link 1 and normal summon. It can also negate Maiden to prevent True Light, Driver sucks of course.
  • Delta is inconclusive, it can trade with Lordly Lode or Wishes, but I did not get to pull that off often. Still deciding if it's good enough.
  • Typhoon is a card I want to consider over Delta to trade with True Light. It feels powerful since I want more ways to hate on True Light, but will need to test it.
  • Nibiru was odd since I am playing ways to prevent my Blue Eyes opponent from playing. Sometimes they'll be encouraged to Seals pass. Blue Eyes players can play around it by holding their Lordly Lode summon after Nib to keep Drillbeam live.

The 2 Linguriboh was an idea to counter Dominus Impulse on Defenser. You negate it with the 1st Linguriboh but you need another Link 1 to trigger Guardian revive and save Link Decoder. This happened only once. In reality it was useful going 2nd. Linguriboh in EMZ to negate a trap is fake, the 2nd Linguriboh in MMZ makes things easier and actually protects your link climb.

Matchup Breakdown in Total (321 Duels; 166 Heads, 155 Tails)

Due to Tenpai's influence: 189 1st, 132 2nd

  • 51 Blue Eyes (15.9%, W/R = 54%)
  • 50 Tenpai (15.6%, W/R = 36%)
  • 31 SE Millennium (9.7%, W/R = 58%)

Honorable mention: 17 Kash & Stun (5.3%)
